If upon assessment we notice the patient has migrated lip filler from a previous injector, then we will need to dissolve the old filler prior to the patient receiving lip filler at our practice in order to achieve optimal results that do not distort the patient's natural lip anatomy.
Avoid alcohol consumption for 3 days prior to receiving lip filler injections.
Consult with your medical provider if you are able to discontinue blood thinning medication such as Ibuprofen, Excedrin, Aspirin, Aleve, and Fish Oil.
Do not wear makeup to your appointment for a lip filler procedure.

How long does lip filler last?
The lips are an area of dynamic movement. Therefore, upper lip filler and lower lip filler tend to not last as long as other areas such as the cheeks, chin, and jawline. The more filler injected, the longer the filler lasts. With the first syringe, med spa patients should expect to require more filler within 6-8 months. After the second syringe, the filler will last over a year. Because we never want to overfill this area, we go based on assessment and not a strict timeline in regards to when filler needs to be touched up.
Can lip filler be dissolved?
Yes. Because we only utilize hyaluronic acid based fillers in the lips, they can be completely dissolved.
How long does it take for lip filler to settle?
Typically, lip fillers take at least 2 weeks to settle. However, some patients may have residual swelling and should expect to wait at least 4 weeks to appreciate the final result.
