Pubic fat, also known as FUPA (Fat Upper Pubic Area), is excess fat that accumulates above the pubic bone. While it can be difficult to target and get rid of groin fat, with the off-label use of Kybella®, deoxycholic acid, the fat in the area can be permanently destroyed for a more contoured appearance in the lower abdomen using a non-surgical method of fat reduction. The treatment for abdominal fat removal is recommended for patients looking to achieve the appearance of a longer penis without having liposuction.

Non-surgical FUPA removal requires Kybella, which works by injecting a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps break down fat. For this fat loss procedure, Kybella is used off-label by injecting it directly into the fat in the pubic area, effectively destroying tummy fat cells in the pubic and stomach area, leading to a noticeable reduction in the appearance of the FUPA. Once destroyed, these fat cells cannot store fat again, making the results of FUPA removal permanent.
Avoid alcohol for a week prior to receiving FUPA reduction
Consult with your medical provider if you are able to discontinue blood thinning medication such as Ibuprofen, Excedrin, Aspirin, Aleve, and Fish Oil 2 weeks prior to FUPA reduction
The ideal candidate for non-surgical abdominal fat removal is someone who has stubborn fat in their upper pubic region. Many men find this area to be troublesome when it comes to making their penis appear smaller. The male FUPA can also make retraction of the penis appear to be worse.
The area will be swollen and mildly tender for 1-2 weeks. Results of non-surgical fat removal appear after the 2 weeks and continue to improve in sculpting the body for up to a month. This procedure is quick and relatively comfortable so patients can resume normal activity in just 24 hours.
There’s potential for bruising and soreness that may linger for a few days, but that is not too common. Swelling is one of the most common side effects of non-surgical abdominal fat removal and should be expected. Otherwise both female and male FUPA reduction treatments are safe and effective with minimal side effects and minimal downtime.
This will vary on patient goals and the size of the FUPA, which are discussed thoroughly with the patient before fat reduction injections are implemented. Most patients should expect 3+ treatments. A noticeable improvement will usually be seen after each treatment during the non-surgical body sculpting process.
Both the stomach and the pubic area are places that are great at storing fat, and are consistently one of the last places in your body to burn away fat. This means it is almost impossible to simply target and “eliminate” exclusively fat in the abdominal area. Another reason could be your genes, for some people just naturally store more fat than others.
No! When compared to a surgical FUPA removal procedure, or a tummy tuck, both the recovery and the pain you experience during the body sculpting process is fairly minimal, with nothing much beyond feeling mildly tender for 1-2 weeks after the treatment.
While you can assist in the process of tummy and abdominal fat removal with diet and exercise, it is not possible to simply target the pubic area alone. If you are looking to reduce fat in the abdominal area exclusively, fat reduction injections might be the choice for you.
