What Is Botox It For?

Neuromodulators such as BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, are FDA-approved to treat fine lines and wrinkles associated with movement such as frowning and smiling. Lushful Aesthetic’s facial botox injections are performed by Chris Bustamante, DNP, NP-C (@InjectorChris) for both facial and body botox procedures. As a leading med spa for men in NYC that is LGBTQ and BIPOC owned, our MedSpa’s goal is to create a comfortable space for all, helping to soften facial appearances for those who want to prevent frown lines, a furrowed brow, and more. Facial botox injections can also treat TMJ pain associated with teeth grinding and for masseter muscle reduction.

Our Approach To Botox

BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®  all work via neuromodulation to limit muscle movement. Facial Botox Treatment Areas:

  • “Crows Feet” (Lines around the eyes)

  • Temples

  • “Bunny Lines” (Lines extending from the nose)

  • Chin

  • Forehead Lines

  • The Glabellar Complex, or lines between the eyebrows

Why Should You Get Facial Neurotoxin Injections?  The neurotoxin is injected into the muscle to erase wrinkles and help soften your skin, these wrinkles may be caused by:

  • Frowning

  • Smiling

  • Other repetitive facial expressions

We do not treat isolated areas here at Lushful Aesthetics, as this often leads to poor results and dissatisfaction from patients. Global optimization pricing is for Xeomin®, other toxins are priced at $14/unit.

Post-Facial Botox Assessment

Patients are always seen two weeks after their Botox appointment to assess if additional Botox is needed. If the patient received Global Optimization with Botox then any additional units required at the two week follow-up are complimentary. If the patient paid per unit, then additional units required at the two week follow-up will be charged as necessary.

FAQs

How much does Botox cost per unit?

At Lushful Aesthetics we take a global optimization approach with Botox. This includes unlimited units to the upper third of the face. For patients who would like to only treat specific areas we charge $14 per unit.

How long does Botox last?

Botox usually lasts 3-4 months on average.

Will my face be frozen?

Being frozen is not the goal for most patients. You will not be frozen unless you request to have very restricted movement. Typically, patients' goals are to have limited movement for a natural refreshed appearance, which should occur within a few days after the injections.

Why do I need to come back in 2 weeks after my appointment?

Coming back for your 2 week appointment is crucial to see if you need any touch-ups. Sometimes patients need an extra unit here or there. Because it’s usually just a sprinkle if a touch up is even necessary, there is no additional cost. We make a note in your chart so we know how much to adjust for your next treatment.

How do I know how many units I need?

The number of neurotoxin units you’ll need will be determined during our in-office assessment. The ultimate thing to keep in mind is that stronger facial muscles require more neurotoxin for movement restriction. We’ll of course also keep in mind your goals and how much movement you’d like to have post-treatment.

My friend usually just gets 30 units, can I do the same?

It’s important for us to do an assessment to determine how many units are appropriate for your unique facial anatomy. In line with our goal of global optimization, we have set a price that would cover all the units necessary for the upper third of the face to avoid unsatisfactory results.

Can Botox treat smile lines?

Botox for smile lines is a great way to address the dynamic lines around the eyes, typically called crows feet. However, Botox is not used to address smile lines around the mouth. For lines around the mouth patients should consider nasolabial fold or smile line filler and/or lip filler.

What is “baby” Botox?

Baby Botox is a marketing term that describes using small doses of Botox to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Keep in mind, you still need the correct dosing for your unique anatomy and there isn’t a set unit amount for “baby Botox”. Most patients seeking “baby Botox” want the mild restriction to prevent harsh lines from forming. This is doable but keep in mind that in order for Botox to be “preventative”, the movement must be restricted.

Does Botox prevent wrinkles?

Yes, if started early enough. Botox and other neurotoxins can delay the onset of wrinkles associated with muscle movements from forming. Wrinkles associated with sleeping (your face squishing against the pillow) and wrinkles associated with skin collagen loss are not prevented by treatments with Botox and other neurotoxins.

Why do I still have wrinkles after Botox?

Some patients require a touch-up at their 2-week appointment to perfect their results. Keep in mind, it’s always better to undertreat you initially, especially if it’s your first time receiving facial Botox. We can always add more at your 2-week follow-up appointment, but overtreatment cannot be corrected - you will have to wait for the effects of the neurotoxin to wear off. Additionally, wrinkles from lifestyle (sun exposure, face squishing on a pillow, etc) and collagen loss are not improved with neurotoxin injections.
